A backup is a copy of a server’s files at a point in time. You may restore a backup to return the server to that state, or download it to keep a copy on your own computer. For example, create a backup before you reinstall a server or edit its configuration files, and restore it if the result is not what you expected.Backups are stored on the server’s node, and count toward the node’s disk space. To open the backups of a server, click the Backups tab on the server’s overview page.
To create a backup, click the Create Backup button at the top of the page. Nodex creates the backup in the background, and it appears in the list when it is ready.
The backups page lists every backup of the server with its name, size, and how long ago it was created. Hover over the creation time to see the exact date and time.Use the buttons at the top of the page to switch between a list and a grid view. Nodex remembers your choice.
The summary at the top of the page shows how many backups the server has and how much backup disk space they use, compared to the server’s limits. When a new backup would exceed either limit, Nodex deletes the oldest backups. You may change the limits in the server’s Settings tab, on the Backups page. Nodex sends the new limits to the node when you save:
Setting
Description
Default
Backups Count Limit
How many backups of the server to keep.
3
Backup Disk Usage Limit
How much disk space on the node the backups of the server may use.
Choose Restore to return the server to the state of the backup. Restoring overwrites the server’s files, and the server shows the Restoringactivity until it finishes. To restore a backup:
Right-click the backup and choose Restore
Read the confirmation dialog
Wait for the countdown on the Restore backup button to end, then click it
Restoring a backup reverts the server’s whole filesystem to the state of the backup. Files missing from the backup are permanently lost, and this action cannot be undone. Create a new backup first if you want to keep the current state.
Choose Delete and confirm to permanently delete the backup. This action cannot be undone.Deleting a server may also delete its backups, depending on the option you choose.
