# Custom VPS

> Requirements for connecting your own Linux server to Nodex as a node.

Alongside its cloud provider integrations, Nodex lets you connect your own VPS as a node. To do so, select the **Custom VPS** option when creating a new [node](/nodes).

## Minimum requirements

Before you install, make sure your server meets the following requirements:

* The server **must be** running a 64-bit Linux distribution with systemd (e.g. Ubuntu, Debian, Rocky Linux, AlmaLinux).
* The server **must be** reachable from the internet.
* No firewall or security group **should** block inbound traffic on Nodex's operational port (3400 by default) or outbound HTTPS and DNS traffic.
* You **must have** root access to the server to run the installer.
* The server **should have** at least 1 CPU core, 1 GB of RAM, and 10 GB of disk space.
* The server **must have** `curl` or `wget` installed.
* The server's data directory **must be** on local disk, not a network-mounted filesystem.
